5 Reasons to Join our Mayan Retreat in Guatemala

What to expect from our Mayan retreats

Imagine embarking on a transformative journey in the heart of the Mayan culture, where ancient traditions come to life. At the Mayan Wisdom Project, we are excited to introduce our first Mayan Retreats. These immersive experiences offer a unique opportunity to connect with authentic Mayan leaders, immerse yourself in Mayan culture and embark on a life-changing journey.

Here's what you should join our Mayan retreats:

An Authentic immersion into Mayan wisdom

During our retreats, you will have the privilege of immersing yourself in the profound Mayan traditions and wisdom, guided by exceptional teachers, including Ajq’ijab’ (Mayan Spiritual Leaders) and major Elders such as Taxa Pox and Nana Sandra. These remarkable healers, typically inaccessible to the general public, have agreed to share their wisdom with you. Get ready to learn directly from the teachers of the teachers!

All our spiritual practices and ceremonies take place at ancient Mayan sites, including Pasucal Ab’aj, one of Guatemala's most famous ancient altars. These sacred locations provide a profound connection to Mayan heritage and a unique energy for our transformative ceremonies.

We value authenticity and that's why we choose Chichicastenango to hold our first spiritual retreats: an extraordinary place untouched by mass tourism, that allows you to explore the heart of Guatemala's culture. While the experience may sometimes feel raw, intense and even noisy, it really embodies the soul of Guatemala for us. “Chichi” is home to the Quiché civilization, the largest Mayan population group and was once a thriving trading center in the Maya area. You can still visit the biggest market in the country there. This is also where the original Popol Vuh was found, a monumental discovery that significantly expanded our understanding of Mayan history.

Discover Mayan traditional ceremonies

The Kotzij’ (Ceremonies):

Immerse yourself in four Kotzij’ ceremonies, each offering a unique insight into Mayan spirituality. This includes two group Kotzij’ ceremonies, a ceremonial cacao drinking Kotzij’ and an ancestral healing group practice.

One-on-One Cleansings:

Experience a one-on-one cleansing guided by our spiritual leaders. These cleansing rituals often involve the use of tobacco or eggs, ancient practices designed to purify the mind, body and spirit.

An opportunity for personal growth

Our Mayan retreats last 5 days and offer an intimate setting with limited spots available. This ensures that you receive personnalized attention, fostering an environment for personal growth and healing.

These retreats provide an opportunity to build meaningful connections with like-minded individuals. The collective energy of the group amplifies the impact of the practices and fosters an environment of mutual support.

Our spiritual retreats are more than a brief escape; they are a training ground for lifelong healing. As you learn the ancient practices, you will also gain the tools and knowledge to integrate these healing techniques into your daily life. This retreat empowers you with practical wisdom to sustain your spiritual growth and support your journey long after your immersion in Guatemala.
